The organisation Safety Line, which helps children and young people deal with difficult life situations or everyday worries and problems, is launching a new campaign called Manage 20 which encourages callers to look for a different way of relieving emotional or mental pain other than self-harm. The name comes from the idea that when it comes to this issue, the key is to find a way through the crucial initial 20 minutes after the desire to harm oneself first appears, after which the desire diminishes for most people. According to news site Deník N, up to 15 per cent of Czech children have experience with self-harm.

Czech travel agencies are cancelling trips to the southeastern part of the Greek island of Rhodes, where a wildfire has been raging for several days. The Czech News Agency reports that travel agencies Exim Tours, Fischer, Čedok and CK Blue Style are offering customers who were supposed to fly to Rhodes on Sunday or are due to travel on Monday free cancellation or rebooking for a different date or destination.

The parent group of both the Exim Tours and Fischer travel agencies is sending a repatriation flight from Prague on Sunday night, which is intended to transport Czechs home from the worst affected areas. Čedok is also planning a repatriation flight for Sunday night, due to arrive in Prague on Monday at 2.20 am. According to a Čedok spokesperson, the two consular officials that the Czech foreign ministry is sending to assist Czech tourists will fly to Greece on this plane. The travel agency has about 300 customers on the island who are in alternative hotels or evacuation centres.

A bill which expands the options for citizens wanting to participate in the defence of the Czech state came into effect on Sunday. Until now, there were three ways Czechs could contribute to the defence of their country - by becoming professional soldiers, joining the active reserves, or voluntarily participating in military exercises. The new amendment to the current military legislation allows people to apply for a fourth option, whereby they only have to undergo a medical examination at the time of applying, but if the security situation were to worsen, they would go through training.

The law also touches on other areas, such as the remuneration of soldiers in the active reserves, and will allow the defence ministry to use data from public administration systems for defence planning even outside of a state of national emergency or war.

The bill was created as a response to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine.

The 20th edition of the four-day Colours of Ostrava music festival ended on Saturday night with a concert by the American rapper Macklemore. The festival was marred this year by two of the big headliners cancelling their performances at the last minute: first, British singer Ellie Goulding cancelled her performance on Thursday for health reasons, and then Nigerian artist Burna Boy cancelled his Friday show due to a plane engine malfunction which meant he wasn't able to fly to Ostrava from Paris. Festival director Zlata Holušová told the Czech News Agency that this was the festival's most difficult year in its entire history, but added that despite this, the final day of the festival was a success.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will send two members of a special consular team to Greece to assist Czech tourists on the Greek island of Rhodes, where wildfires forced thousands of people, including hundreds of Czech tourists, to be evacuated on Saturday. Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský announced this on Twitter after a meeting with travel agencies on Sunday morning. The ministry is also setting up a hotline for inquiries related to the fires and asked all Czech citizens in Greece to register in the DROZD system. Prime Minister Petr Fiala presented his vision for the Czech Republic in a debate at the Colours of Ostrava festival on Saturday, saying that he hopes Czechia will be among the ten most developed countries in the world in the future. However, he added that a number of things would need to be done before this goal could be achieved, such as the completion of the highway network, the modernisation of the railways, and the securing of sufficient energy resources.

He made these statements during the Meltingpot discussion forum, which runs alongside the main music and culture festival.
