Czech travel agencies cancel trips to Rhodes and send repatriation flights for evacuees
Czech travel agencies are cancelling trips to the southeastern part of the Greek island of Rhodes, where a wildfire has been raging for several days. The Czech News Agency reports that travel agencies Exim Tours, Fischer, Čedok and CK Blue Style are offering customers who were supposed to fly to Rhodes on Sunday or are due to travel on Monday free cancellation or rebooking for a different date or destination.
The parent group of both the Exim Tours and Fischer travel agencies is sending a repatriation flight from Prague on Sunday night, which is intended to transport Czechs home from the worst affected areas. Čedok is also planning a repatriation flight for Sunday night, due to arrive in Prague on Monday at 2.20 am. According to a Čedok spokesperson, the two consular officials that the Czech foreign ministry is sending to assist Czech tourists will fly to Greece on this plane. The travel agency has about 300 customers on the island who are in alternative hotels or evacuation centres.
