Czech police are warning of a rise in scams in which people are tricked into unknowingly smuggling drugs abroad. According to the National Drug Headquarters, fraudsters typically build trust with victims online, persuade them to travel overseas and then ask them to carry a suitcase that secretly contains drugs. In recent cases, a 77-year-old man was arrested in Brazil with seven kilograms of cocaine, while a 57-year-old woman faces a possible life sentence in Hong Kong. Police say scammers often target people with financial problems and urge the public to be extremely cautious.

A convoy of historic vehicles on Sunday passed through sites linked to the events that led to the assassination of Acting Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich during WWII.  Eighty-four years ago, on the night of 29 December 1941, three groups of paratroopers — Silver A, Silver B and Anthropoid — were dropped into the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.

Five months later, Jan Kubiš and Jozef Gabčík carried out the assassination. The annual commemorative event, which begins in Pardubice and ends in Nehvizdy in Central Bohemia, marks the anniversary of the parachute drops of the Anthropoid, Silver A and Silver B groups. The operation is regarded as the most significant act of the European domestic resistance during the Second World War.
