Czechia’s living and subsistence minimum benefits will increase from January, Labour and Social Affairs Minister Marian Jurečka said on Thursday after a cabinet meeting. The details are still waiting to be worked out based on inflation data that will be available towards the end of this year. According to Mr Jurečka, family benefits should also rise, by 30 percent. Relevant families, where at least one of the parents works or studies, will receive CZK 500 more.

The subsistence minimum is used to determine one’s entitlement to a number of benefits. It has already been increased twice this year due to high inflation. Currently the subsistence minimum set by the government lies at CZK 4,620 and the living minimum at CZK 2,980.
