President Pavel begins US visit, will honour 9/11 victims

President Petr Pavel begins a visit to the United States on Monday, starting in New York, where he will honour the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, he will meet UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Pavel said before his departure that he also wants to promote Czechia’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2032–2033.

He will meet Slovak President Peter Pellegrini on Monday. Pavel is due to deliver Czechia’s national address to the General Assembly on Wednesday.
