Canoist Fuksa wins third consecutive world title over 1,000 metres

Czech canoeist Martin Fuksa has successfully defended his 1,000-metre world title at the championships in Poznań. The Paris Olympic champion produced a powerful finish to share first place with Hungary’s Dániel Fejes, while Russia’s Zakhar Petrov finished just two hundredths of a second behind. Fuksa has now won the event at three consecutive World Championships and has five world titles overall. It was also his 17th World Championship medal. Czech kayaker Barbora Betlachová narrowly missed out on a medal in the women’s 1,000 metres, finishing fourth, 1.35 seconds behind the bronze medallist.
