Survey shows deep distrust of politicians in Czechia

A new survey by the Central European Digital Media Observatory (CEDMO) reveals widespread public skepticism toward Czech politicians. According to the findings, 91 percent of respondents believe politicians do not keep their promises, more than 80 percent see them as self-serving, and 72 percent consider them highly corrupt. Analysts warn that such deep mistrust makes society more vulnerable to disinformation. CEDMO sociologist Ivan Ruta Cuker called the results a “warning signal for democratic institutions.” The study also shows that economic hardship fuels disillusionment: nearly one-fifth of Czech households struggle financially, making them more likely to support opposition parties and believe misleading claims.
