Lipavský: Czechia supports more sanctions against Russia after Romanian airspace breach

Russia’s drone incursions near NATO borders are raising tensions. On Saturday, Romania scrambled two F-16 jets after a drone crossed its airspace. Poland, with NATO support, deployed helicopters and fighter jets in a two-hour preventive operation, even closing Lublin’s airport due to the drone threat near Ukraine’s frontier. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský (a candidate fo Civic Democratic Party) stressed on X that Moscow’s actions are deliberate provocations, not “mistakes.” He vowed that Russia must face consequences, confirming Czechia’s support for further sanctions alongside NATO allies. NATO remains on alert as Russian drones continue to test alliance defenses.
