Czech MPs to debate Russian drone and jet incidents in Poland and Estonia
The Czech parliament’s foreign affairs committee will meet next Thursday to discuss Russian incursions into Polish airspace and other security incidents. Committee chair Richard Brabec (ANO) said the session will likely be closed due to the presence of intelligence officials. The meeting was called at the request of deputy chair Barbora Urbanová (STAN), who warned the situation has only worsened since the first drone intrusion.
On September 10, Poland reported 19 cases of Russian drones entering its airspace during strikes on Ukraine. NATO responded with a new mission to strengthen air defenses on its eastern flank. Days later, Warsaw accused Russian jets of entering the security zone of a Baltic oil platform, while Estonia reported Russian fighters crossing its airspace. Tallinn has since requested NATO consultations under Article 4.
Moscow denied the Estonian claims, saying its planes were flying a planned route from Karelia to Kaliningrad.
