Czechia and Ukraine agree to reciprocal free use of embassy land for 49 years

The Czech government has approved an agreement with Ukraine allowing each country to use land for their diplomatic missions free of charge for 49 years. According to the Foreign Ministry, the deal is technical in nature and ensures that neither side will pay rent for the land beneath their respective embassies in Prague and Kyiv. The aim is to streamline and economize the use of these diplomatic properties. The Czech government also plans to purchase and renovate a new embassy building in Kyiv, with costs projected to reach up to CZK 483 million by 2027.
