Seznam.cz: rising housing costs push Prague’s middle class to the outskirts

As housing prices in Prague continue to soar, many working families are relocating to areas just outside the capital. According to web portal Seznam.cz, data from the Agency for Social Inclusion shows a sharp rise in housing allowance recipients in the suburbs, reflecting the financial strain on middle-class households. Lucie Trlifajová, an agency analyst, noted a "brutal drop in real incomes," making it difficult for even employed individuals to afford city living. The trend suggests an expanding group of economically vulnerable residents outside traditional regions of social exclusion, such as Ústecký or Karlovarský. Further analysis is needed to fully understand the shift.
