Kvitová exits Australian Open in first round
The Czech Republic’s Petra Kvitová has been knocked out in the first round of the Australian Open. Kvitová, who was seeded 20th in Melbourne, was beaten 6-2 6-2 by Sorana Cirstea of Romania. The same player beat her in the second round of the tournament last year.
The second day of the first Grand Slam of the season saw Czechs Markéta Vondroušová, Marie Bouzková and Tomáš Macháč advance. However Kateřina Siniaková and Jiří Lehečka were knocked out.
