Petra Kvitová advances at Australian Open

Ninth seed Petra Kvitová has advanced to the second round at tennis’s Australian Open. The Czech overcame Greet Minnen of Belgium 6-3 6-4 on the opening day of the first Grand Slam of the year.

Other Czechs who have advanced to round two in Melbourne include Markéta Vondroušová and Jiří Veselý.  However, Kateřina Siniaková has already exited the tournament.
