Tuesday saw highest number of detected coronavirus cases since end of July
Tuesday saw 294 people test positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus in the Czech Republic - the largest daily increase in nearly a month. The reproduction number rose from Tuesday’s 1.05 to 1.06 and has been above the number one, which indicates spread acceleration, since August 8.
Health Ministry data shows that the most rapid spread is currently in Prague, where the seven-day incidence ratio lies at 28 infected people per 100,000 inhabitants. Prague is followed by the Northern Bohemian Liberec Region with 19 infections per 100,000 inhabitants and the South Bohemian Region with an average of 17 infections. Meanwhile, the lowest average spread over the past week was detected in the Pardubice and Zlín regions (both 5 infections).
A total of 56 people are currently hospitalised with COVID-19, of which 16 are in serious condition.
Meanwhile, 33,000 people received the coronavirus vaccine on Tuesday, bringing the total number of administered jabs to 11,044,025.
