Wednesday sees number of coronavirus cases decline but still over 50,000

Wednesday saw 50,674 people test positive for Covid-19 in the Czech Republic, Health Ministry data shows. A total of 2,856 people are currently hospitalized, of which 202 are in serious condition.

The incidence number currently lies at an average of 2,377 infections per 100,000 people, with the highest infection rates being registered in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region. Meanwhile, the Karlovy Vary Region has the lowest average number of cases.

Close to 25,000 people were vaccinated on Wednesday bringing the overall vaccination rate in the country up to 64.7 percent.
