The new device, created by the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals at the Czech Academy of Sciences, offers quick startup times, low installation costs, and energy efficiency. The electrolyzer can deliver full hydrogen output within three minutes and supports the stability of the power grid. Researchers are seeking commercial partners to license or further develop the technology, which aims to reduce carbon footprints and optimize energy costs for industries.

Czech Justice Minister Pavel Blažek (Civic Democratic Party) plans to introduce surrogacy into Czech law, with the process being approved by courts. As Czech Radio found out, currently unregulated and existing in a legal grey zone, surrogacy has become more common in the country, prompting legal reforms. Cases like the police operation "Španěl," which uncovered organized surrogacy schemes involving foreign mothers, highlighted the need for legislation. The new law would focus on ensuring that surrogacy is altruistic, with strict health and age criteria for surrogate mothers, while prohibiting any form of financial compensation beyond reimbursement of expenses.

Firefighters in Český Krumlov have dismantled the roof of the swimming pool facility following a fire that broke out on Saturday morning. Heavy equipment has been used to assist in extinguishing lingering hotspots under the roof. The next step will be the demolition of the building's walls, confirmed town officials. The damage caused by the fire, estimated at 20 million CZK, has rendered the facility irreparable, and plans for a new pool are underway. The fire was likely caused by improper handling of fire during the removal of a wasp nest, with authorities investigating the case as public endangerment.
