Síkela may take on trade role in European Commission, but situation still fluid

Minister of Industry and trade Jozef Síkela (Mayors and Independents) is a potential candidate for the position of EU Commissioner for Trade. But the final decision has not been made and could still change, according to Czech Minister for European Affairs Martin Dvořák (Mayors and Independents). Speaking in Czech Television, Dvořák indicated that while Síkela is likely to receive a trade-related portfolio, nothing is certain yet. The formal announcement of commissioner roles is expected next week from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Previously, reports had suggested Síkela might receive the energy portfolio, but this remains speculative.
