New visas for Ukrainian refugees allow free movement in EU

On Tuesday the Czech Republic began issuing temporary protection visas to Ukrainians fleeing Russia’s war on their country. The new visas replace the special long-term visas previously handed out, with older ones automatically being updated to the new status.

The new type of visa allows Ukrainians to travel freely to other European Union states.

The number of visas granted to refugees from the war in Ukraine had reached over 212,000 on Monday evening.
