Czech team opens world championship with thrilling overtime win over Switzerland

Czechia started its title defence at the Ice Hockey World Championship in Denmark with a dramatic 5–4 overtime victory on Friday against Switzerland, their opponent from last year’s final. Trailing late in regulation, the Czechs equalised on a power play with a goal by Lukáš Sedlák. In overtime, Roman Červenka netted the winner—his 57th international goal. Star forward David Pastrňák joined Sedlák and Červenka on the top line, but Martin Nečas missed the game due to missing gear. The Czechs will face Norway in their next match on Sunday.
