Czech kayaker Krejčí wins world slalom title

Jakub Krejčí has won the men's kayak title at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Oklahoma City, claiming his first individual world crown. The 24-year-old Czech, who has been the standout performer in this season's World Cup, improved on last year's silver medal. Earlier at the championships, he also finished second in the kayak cross time trial. Krejčí produced a fast, penalty-free run in the final. Judges reviewed his passage through the penultimate gate but ruled there had been no contact. He finished 0.69 seconds ahead of Poland's Michal Pasiut, while Italy's Olympic champion Giovanni de Gennaro took bronze.
