PM briefs parliamentary party leaders about planned Covid-19 measures

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš briefed parliamentary party leaders on his government's plan to contain the spread of Covid-19, in a videoconference on Thursday.

The measures, which are expected to significantly tighten conditions for leisure time activities and the number of people allowed to meet indoors and out, will officially be announced to the public on Friday.

Opposition Civic Democrat leader Petr Fiala has appealed to the public to respect the measures saying the situation had got seriously “out of hand”.

The Czech Republic currently has the highest number of Covid-19 cases per capita in the European Union, with 346.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. A record 5,335 people tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.
