Record number of new Covid cases registered in Czechia on Thursday
Laboratories in the Czech Republic registered 27,717 new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday, which is the highest number on record since the start of the pandemic. Some 323,600 cases have been detected in the country since the start of November, compared to 73,200 in October.
Over 6,000 people are currently hospitalized with Covid, of whom 895 require intensive care. The incidence number for the Czech Republic has climbed to 1231 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The Czech Republic currently has the second highest per capita rate of new Covid-19 cases in the region, with an average of 1,097 cases per 100,000 inhabitants registered over the past seven days.The worst situation is in the neighbouring Slovakia with a weekly incidence ratio of 1,430 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
