Temperature record falls in Czechia, reaching 40.6°C

Czechia recorded its highest temperature on record on Saturday, when the weather station in Doksany, northern Bohemia, measured 40.6 degrees Celsius. The previous national record of 40.4 degrees, set in Dobřichovice in August 2012, had stood for nearly 14 years.

Earlier in the afternoon, a temperature of exactly 40 degrees Celsius was recorded in Řež near Prague, marking the first time a Czech Hydrometeorological Institute station had reached that level in June. The previous June record of 39 degrees Celsius was also set in Řež in 2022.
