Senate awards medals to late chairman Kubera, Bishop Malý, singers Haber and Kožená
Former Senate President Jaroslav Kubera, Charter 77 spokesman and Bishop Vaclav Malý, members of the Spiritual Quintet, mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená and singer Pavol Habera are among the personalities awarded Czech Statehood Day silver medals on Friday.
Kubera's successor Miloš Vystrčil presented the awards, of which there were 27 in total. He said the recipients are a "living silver of the Czech Republic" and examples of resilience, steadfastness and self-confidence. Their common characteristic is service.
