Prime Minister Petr Fiala to meet Pope Francis in Vatican next week

Prime Minister Petr Fiala will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris next Tuesday and with Pope Francis in the Vatican next Thursday, the Czech News Agency reported on Wednesday. In Paris, the topics for discussion will be the EU presidency, which the Czech Republic is taking over from France, and nuclear energy. With the Pope, the Prime Minister will discuss current international issues and Czech aid to Ukraine.

Mr. Fiala will head to the Vatican from Berlin, where he is due to be an honorary speaker at a meeting of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy on Wednesday. In addition to his audience with the Pope, the Czech PM will also hold talks with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the head of Vatican diplomacy.
