PM Babiš urges fuel distributors to cut prices after recent increases
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) has called on fuel distributors Orlen and MOL to significantly lower prices, saying recent increases were unjustified despite falling global oil prices. In a video posted on the social platform X, Babiš said he expected fuel prices at Czech petrol stations to drop sharply during the day. The appeal follows new government measures aimed at curbing fuel costs, including capped distributor margins and a reduction in diesel excise duty. The Finance Ministry has also introduced daily maximum fuel prices, currently set at 49.40 crowns per litre of diesel and 43.05 crowns per litre of petrol.
