Plíšková: First Grand Slam final in five years shows value of persevering

After reaching the final of Wimbledon, Czech tennis star Karolína Plíšková said many people had written her off when she had for several years failed to follow up a previous Grand Slam final at the US Open in 2016. The 29-year-old said, however, that she had been supported by her family. She said she had felt she had more to achieve and reaching the final at the All-England Club showed that persevering paid off.

After overcoming Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-final on Thursday Plíšková will face world number one Ashleigh Barty of Australia in Saturday’s final.
