Markéta Vondroušová reaches her first Wimbledon final
Markéta Vondroušová reached her first Wimbledon final after beating Ukrainian Elina Svitolina 6-3 6-3 in just an hour and 14 minutes on Thursday. The 24-year-old Czech is just the fifth unseeded woman in the Open Era to reach the Wimbledon final.
"I cannot believe it. I am very happy that I made the final. Elina is such a fighter and a great person. It was a tough match. I am very happy," Vondroušová said after the match.
She will face either Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka or Tunisian sixth seed Ons Jabeur in Saturday's final.
