Pilgrims head to Sněžka for traditional St. Lawrence feast
Hundreds of pilgrims from Czechia and Poland are climbing Sněžka, Czech highest mountain, on Sunday for the annual St. Lawrence pilgrimage. Groups set off in the morning from various starting points, meeting near the Silesian House around noon for open-air mass at the summit chapel dedicated to St. Lawrence, patron saint of the Krkonoše Mountains. The event draws local mayors, mountain rescue staff, representatives of the national park, clergy, and politicians. Held every year on St. Lawrence’s Day, the pilgrimage honors the saint, also revered as the patron of cooks, brewers, confectioners, and innkeepers.
