Over 14,500 new Covid cases recorded Thursday

Some 14,554 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in the Czech Republic on Thursday, a slight fall on the previous day and the same day last week.

Czech hospitals remain under immense pressure, with over 8,000 patients currently being treated for the coronavirus, 1,735 of them in a critical condition. Hospitals in Central Bohemia have called up outpatient specialists to help deal with the emergency.

The Covid reproduction number is 1.045, the lowest figure recorded in nearly three weeks.

The Czech Republic has the highest infection rate of any European Union country over the last 14 days.
