Occupation wins Czech Film Critics award for best film of 2021
Michal Nohejl’s dark comedy Occupation, which focuses on a Soviet soldier in Czechoslovakia during the late 1960s, won the 2021 Czech Film Critics awards for best film, best direction and best screenplay on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Pavla Gajdošíková took the award for best actress for her role in the romantic drama Emma in Love. Václav Neužil, who portrayed the main character in last year’s biopic Zátopek, took the award for best actor.
Director Adéla Komrzý’s Intensive Life Unit won the award for best documentary, while the animated family movie Even Mice Belong in Heaven won the award for best audiovisual picture.
The annual Czech Film Critics Awards were set up in 2010 and are organised by the Association of Czech Film Critics.
