Number of foreigners residing in Czechia doubles in ten years
There are more than one million foreigners living in the Czech Republic and their number has doubled in the past ten years, the news site Noviny.cz reported citing data from the Interior Ministry. The number of foreigners with a residence permit has increased by more than 142 percent in the last ten years to the present 1.1 million. By contrast, in 2014, there were 452,000 registered in the country. Foreigners currently make up one tenth of the Czech population. Ten years ago, it was just over four percent. The largest influx is from Ukraine, but the number of Slovaks, Vietnamese, Russians, Turks and Britons choosing to reside in this country has also risen in past years.
