Prague police record 176 offences at illegal tuning meet
Police recorded 176 offences and issued fines totaling CZK 271,900 in connection with the weekend illegal tuning meet in Prague. One driver was detained, Prague police spokesman Jan Daněk said on the police website. Nearly 400 police officers were deployed as part of the security operation in Prague. Participants in the event moved to Brno on Saturday .
Similar events have taken place in other European countries in previous years and have been accompanied by serious threats to road safety and public order. Participants organised illegal races, deliberately blocked motorways and other roads, attempted to block police vehicles, stole traffic signs and used pyrotechnics.
