Czech crown jewels draw crowds to Prague Castle

Hundreds of visitors from Czechia and abroad queued at Prague Castle on Saturday as the Czech crown jewels exhibition opened to the general public. By 9 a.m., the line stretched through much of the castle’s South Gardens. The free exhibition in Vladislav Hall, entitled Habsburgs 500, traces the history of the jewels from the accession of Ferdinand I in 1526 to the end of the 18th century. Its centrepiece is the St Wenceslas Crown, accompanied by the royal sceptre and orb. The exhibition runs until September 28. Last year, it attracted more than 51,500 visitors, including school groups.
