Špicar and Havel win world championship bronze

Czech kayakers Jakub Špicar and Daniel Havel have won bronze in the K2 500 metres at the Canoe Sprint World Championships in Poznań. It is their first world championship medal in the current Olympic discipline, after finishing fourth three times. The Czech pair, who also took bronze at this year’s European Championships in Portugal, produced a strong finish to claim third place. Germany’s Jacob Schopf and Max Lemke won the race, with Portugal’s João Ribeiro and Messias Baptista taking silver. Špicar and Havel finished 2.37 seconds behind the German winners.
