Respect festival brings global music to Prague’s Štvanice Island
The Respect Festival opens on Prague’s Štvanice Island on Saturday, presenting two days of global music from Africa, Asia and beyond. This year’s edition introduces artists from Madagascar and Cape Verde for the first time. Saturday’s programme features Pakistani singer Muslim Shaggan, Kenyan performer Ogoya Nengo, Dutch-Kurdish artist Meral Polat, Cape Verdean musician Mario Lucio and Madagascar’s Bobo & Behaja. Sunday’s line-up includes performers from Egypt, Morocco, Tanzania and other countries, blending traditional and contemporary sounds. Alongside concerts, the family-friendly festival offers children’s activities, workshops and international food. Music runs daily from 1 p.m. until shortly before 10 p.m.
