Post-Christmas sales start in brick-and-mortar shops

Traditional post-Christmas sales are officially starting on Saturday in brick-and-mortar shops across Czechia and will run until mid-January. Online stores launched their discounts earlier, some already on Christmas Eve. Retailers say the range of offers and average discounts will be similar to last season, with electronics and clothing among the most sought-after items. Shops expect higher customer numbers than on regular days and have reinforced staff shifts, partly due to customers returning unsuitable Christmas gifts. Some retailers have extended return deadlines. Consumer inspectors are urging shoppers to remain cautious during sales and to check that discounts are calculated in line with the law, especially the requirement to show the lowest price from the previous 30 days.
