Pavel highlights Czech support for Ukraine as Trump shifts stance

Czech President Petr Pavel told students at Harvard University that Ukraine has already received up to 3.5 million rounds of large-caliber ammunition through Prague’s initiative, stressing Czechia’s early military aid, refugee support, and sanctions on Moscow. His remarks came as Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský (SPOLU) welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s unexpected endorsement of Kyiv’s goal to regain all occupied territory after meeting Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York. Lipavský also praised Trump’s call to reduce Europe’s reliance on Russian energy, noting Czechia has already taken that step. While some Czech politicians welcomed Trump’s push to end the war, others dismissed it as another policy reversal lacking substance.
