Police charge 34 people over covid subsidy fraud worth CZK 27 million

Prague police have charged 34 people with subsidy fraud related to government support during the covid pandemic. According to investigators, the group unlawfully obtained CZK 27 million and attempted to secure an additional CZK 66 million. Four alleged ringleaders used so-called “white horses” and shell companies to submit more than 50 fraudulent applications under the Industry and Trade Ministry’s compensation program. Applicants falsely reported multimillion-crown revenues and their drastic decline due to the pandemic. Some of the funds have been seized, along with property abroad. The main suspects face up to ten years in prison.
