Wolf returned to Šumava enclosure, skull found inside

A female wolf recaptured near Srní in western Bohemia after several days on the loose has been returned to her pack in the Šumava National Park enclosure. Rangers marked her with a white stripe and are monitoring her reintegration. A drone count confirmed nine wolves inside but also revealed a wolf skull with tissue remains, now sent for DNA analysis. At least one more escaped female is still at large. The park’s rugged three-hectare enclosure makes tracking difficult. If no further wolf activity is detected outside, the visitor centre will reopen Monday with restricted access near the enclosure.
