Illegal German waste likely to leave Jiříkov by early September

Tons of German waste illegally dumped in Jiříkov, North Moravia, are expected to be removed around the turn of August and September, according to the village mayor Barbora Šišková. She said unofficial sources confirmed that the Bavarian government has selected a company to carry out the cleanup, as the original sender, Roth International, is insolvent. The waste includes parts of aircraft and wind turbines and has been stored without permits since late 2023. Although Šišková welcomes the progress, she expressed frustration over delays. A separate cleanup will take place in Brno-Horní Heršpice.
