Czech president Pavel to visit Japan for Expo 2025 and talks

President Petr Pavel is travelling for an official visit to Japan aiming to strengthen relations and support Czech exports. The island country plans major investments in its security structures, creating potential business opportunities for Czech companies, President Petr Pavel said before departing. Accompanied by a business delegation focused on technology, defence, cyber security and space, Pavel will meet Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. His programme includes opening Czech National Day at Expo 2025 in Osaka and honouring victims of the Hiroshima atomic bombing. According to Pavel, Japan’s new defence strategy allows for greater international cooperation, which could benefit Czech industry. Over 270 Japanese companies currently operate in Czechia.
