Search continues for escaped puma in Sokolov region

Police, firefighters, and animal control teams are still searching for a puma that escaped from its owner near Josefov in the Sokolov region on Wednesday. Although the animal was nearly captured on Wednesday evening, it managed to give animal control workers the slip. According to regional police spokesperson Zuzana Churaňová, about twenty police officers and ten firefighters are actively searching for the puma which was sighted in several different locations by members of the public. The big cat escaped during feeding time and is believed to be roaming the area around Josefov and Hřebeny. Although the puma is reportedly accustomed to human presence, police are urging the public not to attempt to capture it themselves but to contact the authorities.
