Czech government to address bitcoin scandal

The Czech government will discuss the circumstances of the controversial bitcoin donation to the Ministry of Justice at its meeting on Wednesady. The case led to the resignation of Justice Minister Pavel Blažek (Civic Democratic Party) and raised concerns about possible money laundering. Although the transaction was not found to be illegal, Blažek stepped down to assume political responsibility for the resulting doubts. Prime Minister Petr Fiala has proposed Eva Decroix (both Civic Democratic Party) as his replacement. Decroix, who has served in parliament since 2021, is seen by Fiala as the best choice to restore trust in the ministry.
