Coalition leaders support Blažek’s resignation, praise his work as justice minister

Czech coalition leaders have welcomed the resignation of Justice Minister Pavel Blažek (Civic Democratic Party), calling it the right move in light of a recent scandal involving a controversial donation of bitcoins. STAN leader Vít Rakušan said public trust in institutions “cannot be sold even for a billion,” while Chamber of Deputies Speaker Markéta Pekarová Adamová (TOP 09) described Blažek’s step as a sign of political culture and personal responsibility. Despite the circumstances, many praised his achievements, including the recently passed criminal code reform. Blažek said he was unaware of any wrongdoing but did not want to damage the government’s reputation.
