Over 10,000 runners take part in Prague Marathon

The Prague Marathon took place today with over 10,000 runners filling the streets after the 9:00 am start from Old Town Square. Ethiopian Lemi Berhanu Hayle became the first athlete to defend his title in the event’s history, winning in an unofficial time of 2:05:12—just seconds shy of the course record. The fastest woman was 20-year-old Ethiopian Bertukan Welde Sura, finishing in 2:20:55. Czech Olympian Tereza Hrochová completed her first Prague Marathon only three weeks after a strong performance at the European Road Championships. Road closures and public transport changes caused major disruptions throughout the city during the race.
