In war, no one wins, everyone loses, says US veteran in Pilsen

Ninety-nine-year-old American veteran Harry Humason fulfilled a lifelong wish by returning to Europe 80 years after helping liberate it with Patton’s 3rd Army. Now a guest of the Liberation Festival in Pilsen, he reflected on war’s toll: “No one wins, everyone loses.” As a young soldier, he helped free southwestern Bohemia and reached the town of Volary near the end of World War II. Visiting Prague and Pilsen, he was moved by their beauty and recovery. His vivid memories include a near-battle by the Vltava River and the chaos of Germany's surrender in 1945.
