Pavel to attend Warsaw summit on linking North and South Europe

Czech President Petr Pavel will travel to Warsaw next week for a summit focused on boosting transport, energy, and digital links between northern and southern Europe. The Three Seas Initiative, meeting on Monday and Tuesday, brings together 13 countries between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas. Ukraine and Moldova joined recently, with Albania and Montenegro set to follow. The EU, US, and Japan are among its main partners.

The summit will also address security, resilient infrastructure, and military mobility in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. A key priority for Czechia is the planned high-speed rail line from Brno to the Polish border, aimed at improving connections with Poland and the Baltics.

A business forum will run alongside the meeting, featuring US energy secretary Chris Wright, known for his involvement in shale gas development.
