Chemical unit monitors landfill fire near Rynholec, no danger to public so far

A landfill fire near the village of Rynholec in central Bohemia continued to burn on Tuesday afternoon, with over 200 firefighters on site. Authorities say there is currently no danger to residents, though they are advised not to ventilate homes. A chemical laboratory is monitoring air quality throughout the day. The fire, which broke out Monday evening, has yet to be brought under control. Despite the incident, schools and kindergartens in nearby Nové Strašecí remain open. Waste collection has been rerouted due to the fire. The burning area spanned roughly 200 by 200 meters.
