Czech top officials welcome progress in peace talks in Jeddah

Czech top officials have welcomed the progress in peace talks at a meeting of Ukrainian and American diplomats in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on X that he welcomed the possibility of a ceasefire in Ukraine and the resumption of US aid to the invaded country. Deputy Prime Minister Vít Rakušan also applauded the outcome of the meeting. "Good news from Saudi Arabia. Stopping military aid and cutting off intelligence sharing with Ukraine was a step in the wrong direction. The ceasefire will test Russia's willingness to negotiate an end to the war," he wrote on X. Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský welcomed the agreement in Jeddah as important step to a just and lasting peace, stressing that it was important that Ukrainians were being heard.
